Myles Gascoyne says:

“If you’re fishing relatively deep lakes, with areas that are 12ft plus, then you really should have a rod with a zig on it. My advice is to whittle your hook bait down as small as it can while still holding the hook and hook link vertical from the lead once in the water. I’ve found small baits to work far better on zigs than large, blatant ones. I trim down Solar’s 11mm pop ups, which are so buoyant and work really well for this, and like to use white, yellow or black baits. If you’re fishing a shallow lake then keep an eye on the margins, especially on the southern side which sees most of the sun during the day.”
